Like the protagonist in her debut novel, The Moon Goddess’s Smile, Catherine C. Wu spent her formative years in China before coming to New York City as a graduate student. After a career in biomedical research and podiatry practice, she followed her heart to pursue her dream and became a storyteller. She’s honed her fiction-writing skills at Boston’s Grubstreet to tell this unique story, a labor of love.

The National League of American Pen Women, Inc. (NLAPW) is the oldest women’s arts organization in the United States, headquartered in the historic Pen Arts Building in Washington, DC. Founded in 1897 by journalist Marian Longfellow O’Donoghue, the professional organization supports and promotes women working in art, letters (literature and journalism), and music composition. Notable members have included: Eleanor Roosevelt, Pearl S. Buck, Eudora Welty, Maya Angelou, and Georgia O’Keeffe.
The Pen Arts Building is an elegant historic mansion and at one time was the residence of the eldest son of Abraham Lincoln, Robert Todd Lincoln.
